As a set of chambers, Liverpool Civil Law has a long tradition of practice in housing disrepair law.

The team is headed up by David Bennett, Head of Chambers, who has practised in this area of law for over 30 years. Not only does he give training to solicitors and surveyors who want to engage in this area of practice, but he also ensures that the less senior members of chambers, who are part of this team, are kept regularly updated on all developments in this area of landlord and tenant law.

We believe at Liverpool Civil Law that housing disrepair practice is a very important area of law and provides a crucial service to tenants who occupy properties owned by social landlords. Whilst some social landlords do a very good job, many, unfortunately, do not.  As a consequence tenants and their families live in very substandard conditions which causes great discomfort, inconvenience, and often ill health.

Accordingly, we are proud at Liverpool Civil Law that this is a large, thriving and important part of chamber’s work.
